Blender Challenge!

 Hello Everyone!!!  Now I'm pretty sure that anyone who owns Copics will have at least one Colourless Blender (personally I have four, but that's a whole other story!), so I thought it would be fun to see what fabulous creations you can make using your Colourless Blender Marker!!!  I've just made a quick gift card using Flourishes' April Showers stamp set and created pebbles underneath the bucket.  :)

For inspiration you can look at these ideas and tutorials.....
Adding Texture with Colourless Blender Refill
Bubbles and Pebbles
Tip to Tip or Palette Blending (use your Colourless Blender as your 'lightest marker' to fade to white)

Try adding scales to a dinosaur image by dotting on blender to your coloured image, use an old washer and a blender refill to make a teddy bear (or sweater) fuzzy or use your blender to add patterns to an image (dots on a handbag, stripes to a shirt etc....).  Let's see what fabulous creations you can make with your BLENDER!!

Tip to Tip

Hello Everyone!!  Most of you know how much I love flowers so today I thought I'd show you how much fun using the Tip to Tip technique is to colour your flowers!  This technique is great for smaller areas where you need to blend two colours from two different colour families, but you don't have enough room to use the feathering technique.

For this particular image, I've used R85 (a mid toned dusty pink) and E51 (a pale cream).  Always put your darker colour onto your lighter colour.  Painters often referred to this technqiue as 'loading the brush'.  Use your lighter colour as your brush and touch the darker colour to the tip.

Then simply apply the maker to your image.  At first the darker colour will be laid down and then it will fade to the colour of the 'brush' marker.  In this case it starts pink and fades to a cream.

In this image, I've coloured the larger flowers and you can see the closer to the centre is a pink tone and the outer parts of the petal are cream.  You can continue to apply the darker colour to the centres until you are happy with the way it looks.

Finish colouring your image!

Happy Birthday Cupcake Challenge

Today I have something a little different for you....an art journal page! 

The majority of the materials used to create this page is Copic based.....let me explain!!!!

 I always use X-press It Blending card, however I prime it with Gesso (another X-press product) if I know I'm going to use alot of inks on the paper.  The important thing to remember is...because there is Gesso on the paper, you should not use your copic Markers directly onto the paper, as the Gesso may clog the nib!

 The next step is to add ink directly from the reinkers (B00) into a mist it spray bottle and spray the background.

 I added some purple ink by by dabbing it around the edges.

 I use the same purple dabber to create the base of my cupcake.  I then stamp the grid pattern using Texture Paste (another X-Press It product).

 I dab RV10 onto the top of the cupcake and then airbrush the heart pattern onto the cupcake using the Copic Airbrush system

 Using a dot and dabbing method I colour the cherry for the top of the cupcake.

 Using my Copic multiliners, I draw in my wording.

 Then colour it in and pattern my Word Art.

 Using my multiliners I add in some text around the base of the cupcake.

 I add some white highlights using Copic Opaque white

 ....and attached it all using X-Press It foam Tape.

 I add a little bit more doodling to the journal page....

 ...and voila... there you have it!  A journal page or you could make this into a birthday card!

 Ok...now its your turn to create!!!!

Flower Challenge Winner!!!

Deconstructing Marci

I have had so much fun deconstructing Marci.  

This is a technique I love and often use.  For those of you who know my work, you'll know that I love working in layers.

That is exactly what I have done with Marci.

First I stamped as many Marci's as I could fit onto my X-Press It Blending Card.  At this point I 'map out' what part of each image I am going to colour.

Using my Copic Markers I have coloured ONLY the 'mapped out' areas of each image.  The great thing about this technique is that you don't have to worry about staying within the lines, as each 'section' is going to be cut out!

The next step is to cut out each and every little piece of Marci, being very careful not to lose any pieces!

I also make sure I have one full image of Marci.  This becomes my 'base image'.  This is the image that I will attach all the other pieces to. 

 I work out what parts of Marci are going to be glued first, and then all the subsequent pieces that are going to be layered on top.  For example, Marci's arm is going to be glued down before her dress.  This is because, as a 2D image,  Marci's arm is BEHIND the sleeve of her dress.

 

I use Foam Tape to raise the watering can....

  and also play around with the visor of Marci's cute little hat....

until the layers are just right!

Then Marci is ready for her flower and to be placed in the perfect spot....on a pot!

Flower Challenge

Hello Everyone!!!  It's the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it's CHALLENGE time again!!!  This month I want you to be inspired by FLOWERS!!!  I'm sure by now you all know that I *LOVE* flowers and I want to see what YOU can do with them!!!  Just like your Copics, flowers come in all the colours of the rainbow so lets see some colour as we wonder through this beautiful garden of creativity!!  You aren't just limited to flower images, you can also use floral paper and embellishments!  Let your creativity run wild!!!!
