Masking! The possibilities!

Hi everyone, today I am going to share with you a tutorial on "Masking" your images.

Masking is a very simple to do and gives a very effective look.

What you need is....

Character stamp, Background Stamp, Sharp Scissors, X-press it Blending paper, Scrap photocopy paper and  "MASK IT"  tack Film

First off you need to stamp 2 of the same image, in this case I have stamped 2 little witches. One is stamped on X Press it Blending paper and the other on any scrap/photocopy paper you have. The "scrap" paper is what you will apply your "Mask it"- Tack film too.

Scrap Paper.......Blending Paper

Note..... Test your X Press "Mask it" paper first on the scrap paper first to make sure it does not pull up the fibres of your scrap paper. If you find that it does then gently touch the X Press "Mask it" to your clothing as this will make it less tacky/strong, then place onto your scrap paper image.

 Cut around the image you have applied the "Mask it" Tack film too,(scrap paper) remembering to stay  on the lines when cutting.
 Peel off your "Mask it' tack film off from the scrap Paper and apply this carefully, making sure you have it alligned perfectly to the image on your X Press Blending paper.

Little hard to see but the mask is over the image.

Now.... you can stamp any other image over the top of this,in this case I stamped the moon over my image and when you remove the "Mask it" Tack film you will be left with a perfect image customized to your liking.

Masking your images opens up so many possibilities.

The month of October is "Halloween" for most of our International Friends, even though for many of us in Australia, we do not celebrate this occasion in a big way.
  International World Card Making DAY is held on the First Saturday of October and began in 2006 , It is a time to Celebrate the Worldwide Inspiration of Handmade Cards and the FUN of sharing our creations over the Internet.  So... with that thought in mind I thought we could all bring out that little 'Spooky"
 part we have in us all and help celebrate  HALLOWEEN with our friends all over the world.

Colouring a Footpath.

Hi Copic Friends,

 Today I would like to share with you a tutorial in creating a Footpath or Sidewalk depending on what part of the world you come from.Sometimes when we have an image we need to have some grounding for the image to stand on so I would love to share with you how I do this.

What you will need is a Copic Multiliner. I used a 0.3 but any Copic Multiliner is fine, plus Copic Markers C5 , C3 , C1 and a Very Juicy Blender Marker-0 and a Ruler.

With your Copic Multiliner and a ruler draw 2 Horizontal lines across the paper that you have cut to the size you require- I always use X-Press-It Blending Paper. Now, draw lines vertically down from this line, I always rule my lines on a slight angle rather then straight down.

Using your Copic blender marker-0 colour in the whole area you have drawn.I use the chisel end of my marker for this.
Pre-soaking the area allows for a better blending in such a large area and also uses less of your coloured marker ink. Following the lines you have drawn and using your C1 feather flick in from the vertical lines towards the centre, You will not need to go all the way to the other side because we want to leave as much white area as possible..
Taking your C3 come in from the  line and over the C1, flick colour in again remembering not to extend colour as far as the C1. Now with your C5 and a very light touch just add a small amount of colour to the corners and down your vertical line, I do this by wiggling my pen down the line.
 I then very lightly blend the C3 with my C1, although this is not always necessary.

To finish off I then go over the "whole" path area again that I have coloured using the Chisel end of my Blender .
This is gives me the look of washed out cement/pavers that I am going for.

Now I have a path for image to stand on and my card is completed.

Try experimenting with different Copic Marker greys, you will be amazed at the look you can create.

Monochromatic Colouring

What is Monochromatic Colouring?

A monochromatic colour is all the hues, tints/tones and shades of a single colour and gives a subtle and peaceful look due to the lack of contrast and uses variations of lightness and saturation of a single colour. Most people usually think it refers to greyscale/ black and white colouring but we can use other combinations using only tones of a single colour group.

Colour plays a strong role in all our emotions and how we feel about something we see, when choosing colours think about what you want to be the main focus of your card.

When we choose Warm colours-: such as Red, Pink or Orange they provide excitement, energy and passion. When we view something coloured with warm colours, they move forward in our line of vision and will grab your attention because of the intensity of the colour.

When we choose Cold colours-; such as Blue and Green this gives us more of a feeling of tranquillity and a sense of peacefulness. Cool colours move away from our line of vision and recede into the background.

Sepia colouring is using colours of a Light Brown to a Darker Brown  and is neither Warm nor Cool but gives us a feeling of warmth as in what we feel when looking at old aged vintage photos.

I have included some examples of Monochromatic colouring using Warm, Cool and Sepia Colouring. Don’t be afraid to experiment with this colouring, the effects can be wonderful to view and look so effective on your card.

The image I have used is “LYLAH”,Fashionette Lil’ Lolita from Tickled Pink Stamps and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card.

Backgrounds with Copic Marker Refill's.

Hi Everyone, today I would like to show you how to make your own background paper using Copic Markers Ink Refills.

Have you ever been ready to make a card only to find the Patterened paper is not the colours you want to use. Well , lets make our own. What you will need is .....

• 
  
  Paper or Plastic Plate or Lid
• 
  
  2 Wet Ones- any type, folded into half
• 
  
  Solid Stamp
• 
  
  Glossy Card
• 
  
  Paper Towel- for any spills
• 
  
  Copic Ink Refills.

Ok.... Lets get started....

Drop some Ink randomly onto the Wet ones . This is going to be your own custom Stamp Pad

Taking your solid Stamp, press into the Custom Stamp Pad and stamp onto the Glossy card stock.Each time you stamp you will need to re-ink your stamp from your custom stamp pad. The colours are Fabulous and soooo pretty.

Now we dont want to just throw out the Wet ones when we are finished , so lets fold the wet one up a little more and taking another Piece of glossy card lets swipe the wet one over, first one way and then turning the gloss card around lets swipe back the other way. We now have a plaid backgound piece to use on our card......... no wastage here!!!!

Here is my finished card.I used the Plaid backgound piece to back the floral background piece, a bit of lace, cardstock and paper and a Quote that I stamped onto vellum and we have finished.

The Colours I used for the custom backgound are-: B02, BV00 and RV04. The Magnolia Bird was coloured withRV02, B60 and C3

Colouring Light Skin

This week I would like to share with you my Colour Combinations for Colouring Light Skin.

Last week Mandi showed you how to colour Dark Skin and using the same principals of colouring, here are a few of my favourite skin tone shades.There is so many different colour combinations  that you can use , so it really comes down to a matter of choice and likes.

My tip for the week is to make yourself a Colour Swatch Book and add in all your favourite colour combinations, This will be a handy resource for you to refer back to.

So lets start colouring.......

                  Step 1. - Take your first lightest colour of the combination of colours you have chosen, in this case I'm using E00 and colour in the whole face area.

                Step 2. - Now taking your medium colour marker E02, come in from the sides of the face where you think the shadows and darker areas would be and feather in towards the middle of the face.

                   Step 3. -   I now like to add my colour to the cheeks by touching my E00 marker to my R20 marker.

     Step 4. - Then taking my lightest marker E00 again, I then blend all the colours. 


I have includes a few samples of  coloured faces showing the different skin tones I like to use. I hope this has helped you , so have fun and remember to experiment and if you find some fabulous colour combinations I would love to see them,

Colouring Embellishments with Copic Markers

Have you ever got to the end of a creation and found you don’t have the right coloured embellishments to match.Nothing you have in your stash seems to match the colour shade you need.

*If that has happened  to you, then you need look no further than your COPIC MARKERS.*

It’s really is amazing what you can colour with Copic Markers, Brads, Ribbon, Pearls, Rhinestones, Thread, Flowers, Plastic, and Lace ….. Just about anything!
 Because Copics are Alcohol based they are permanent on most surfaces therefore making them a wonderful tool to change the colour of anything you want.
Below is a few embellishments I have coloured to show you how easy it is to change the colour and to have the embellishments match my papers. I have included in the pictures the original colour of the embellishments and then the Copic Marker coloured one's.

Copic Colour Markers used were RV09,RV06,RV02 and were coloured using 2 different techniques, the Chisel end of my Copic Marker and the Copic ABS 1( airbrush system used with compressor) to show you how easy it is to create your own!
You will never need to buy coloured embellishments again as I prefer to buy plain embellishments and customize them to suit the project I'm working on at the time.

All of the Flowers below started from White and then where coloured using the Markers above.The  large white silk flower was airbrushed and the smaller flowers have been coloured with the chisel end of the Markers.The rhinestones in the centre were coloured to match my flowers also.

Colouring Metal gives you a Bright and Vibrant Embellishment,- a little trick to remember is when colouring metal always choose a Copic marker a few shades darker then the colour you want.

The embellishments below were coloured using my ABS 1 with Compressor and gave a perfect, flawless colour change.

 White Satin Ribbon-

 Coloured with the Chisel end of my marker straight onto to the white ribbon. You can change the colour of any ribbon as seen below . I used the same RV09 Marker to colour each of them

Beaded Ribbon was coloured using my ABS 1 with Compressor. This gave a fabulous even colouring all over and the results were perfect.

 Here is the Final result- A card using all the embellishments that I coloured above plus a few extras as well, the butterfly and the clear plastic word sentiment.

Glimmer and Sparkle with Spica Atyou Pens.

Hello Everyone and WELCOME to the NEW Copicoz Blog.
Today Mandi and myself (Debra) would love to share our card creations using the fabulous "Spica Pens". We are also excited to annonce that the 11 new colours are now available in Australia.These pens are are designed to match your Copic markers and add that extra "WOW" factor of Shimmer and Sparkle to any creation.!

On my card I have used Copic markers, GO0, BV00, E35, E33, E31. E51, E00, E02. W5, W3, W1, C5 and the fabulous SPICA ATYOU PENS.

I wish you could see this up close as the glittery soft shimmer is amazing with these pens. The pens will go over any of your Copic coloured image and just add that "WOW" factor to it!!
The Spica Atyou pens I used are Clear-00, Sand-19, Gold-11, Blossom-14 and Baby Blue-18.

My images ( Magnolia Fairy Tale Collection) were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on X-Press It Blending paper.

HELLO FROM MANDI
Hi Everyone, I'm Mandi and I am so excited to share my first card for COPICOZ with you!


For this card I have used the gorgeous Flutter Bear Image on X-Press It Blending Card... which I love!!!! I love using my Copics to colour and blend! For the beautiful Bear I used E31, E33, E35 and E37 and for his gorgeous wings I used BG000, BG10, R20& R22. I have also added a whole lots of Spica pens!

I add Spica to everything, and am so so excited that there is a whole new range of colours to add to the existing colour range. In this card I have used Buttermilk, Chocolate, Peach, and ofcourse my clear!

It is very hard to see in the photos, so below I have included a close up of the bear, which I have lightened considerably using Photoshop, just so you can see the shimmer of the Spica Pens! If you haven't already got a collection of these Spica Pens....RUSH....as quickly as you can.....and buy the existing colours as well as the beautiful new colour range!!! After all you can NEVER have enough glitter....right!!???!!
